A report from Carl Pryce.
"While lowering off the route Slytherin at Sunshine Rock yesterday (26 sept 2011) there was a gust of wind and suddenly a shower of rocks came tumbling down. Luckily both I and my belayer were narrowly missed by a microwave oven - sized block. The block shattered as it hit the slab below me, but the largest fragment still left a sizeable dent in the ground. After this very scary incident I took a look at the slope above the crag and notice there is a very unstable fine scree slope with large rocks (time bombs) perched on it. This slopes threatens the leftmost 4 routes (Hogwarts Express, Slytherin, Sorting Hat, Ravenclaw). "
As recommended by Carl, we advise caution when climbing the above mentioned routes (be aware of high wind, recent rainfall, etc)
I will post more once there is further info.
